When done well, feedback is transformative. Just one 30 min 1:1 conversation changed the whole trajectory of my career as my new manager laid out what I was doing wrong and what I should be focusing on. I was lucky to then have amazing managers and mentors who got me under their wings and coached me. Apparently, there was some feedback I needed to hear, but I never got it. That came as a total surprise because I thought I was doing everything right and no one ever said anything otherwise. Please use this knowledge responsibly and happy hunting!įOLLOW me for more ramblings on tech, entrepreneurship, s’mores, and other random topics I’m interested in at the moment.Years ago, 6 months into my new job as a consultant, my staffing manager told me that I was “un-staffable and my performance was lagging” On that note, personally I’m grateful that Ryan Hoover and the Product Hunt team did the work to create this feature and continue to curate fantastic guests. We are simply a customer support team in Kyiv, Ukraine. So say thank you, we could use a little more graciousness on the internet. My name is Jack & Im the marketing guy behind SupportYourApp. These guests also don’t have to spend their time answering random stranger’s questions and I’m always genuinely thankful when someone answers mine. I’m sure the guests want to know that their time was spend doing something valuable and without your feedback, they will have no idea. Lastly, thank the guest after they answer your question on either Product Hunt or Twitter. I know this sounds asinine, but I’ve seen both of these instances so I feel the need to bring it up. This isn’t TechCrunch Disrupt or last call at the club so don’t treat it like so. Please don’t pitch your app or ask the guest what they look for in a mate. Again this is a public forum and the goal is to help everyone collectively. Second, please ask thoughtful questions that could add value to more people than just yourself.
